In the 1200s, people within Romani groups had learned the trade of metalwork. The name tinker became more popular among the original people in Ireland and Scotland who had also roamed around during this time. So pretty much, a tinker is a traveling blacksmith! Along with this, to tinker means to repair or create.
With this in mind, TinkerHeart Farms was started to create a new standard for farming via homesteading and fix the problems of agriculture by redoing what farmers had done for centuries over 100 years ago using modern advances in technology while keeping chemical use to a minimum.
Today, we have sturdier hoop houses to protect crops throughout the year. We have geotextile fabrics to stave off grass while still allowing the ground to “breathe” (let heat out) and allow water in to properly irrigate the plants. We also have solar panels to help replace whatever coal and other power sources may be inserting into the air. We also have modern-day tractors that also do not rely on fossil fuels to introduce toxins into the air as well. We can also enjoy listening to what every-day nature rather than a loud engine running scaring myself and the nature around us.
Tomorrow, we can have a better, friendlier world for future generations to enjoy the fruits of our labor, hopefully sooner rather than later. We should look toward a brighter future and create the world we want to live in and be a part of. That’s what tinkering should be about, and that’s what TinkerHeart Farms is all about 😉
